Puttur Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple is a 12th-century temple, located in Puttur, Dakshina Kannada. Lord Shiva (popularly known as Puttur Mahalingeshwara) is the main deity. In the premises of this temple we find special pond around the western side. It is known that in olden days Pearls were found to be growing in the particular Pond. In the local language Muttu means pearls, which delivered the name Mutthur to this place afterwards called since since Puttur. During the calendar month regarding April the Car Festivity is recognized regarding 10 days together with much gaiety and also Fervor.
